Further Studies on the Mechanism of in vitro Stimulation of Lipolysis by Adrenaline

Abstract
The mechanism of stimulation of lipolysis by adrenaline was examined in a cell free system. Ediol or the lipid extracted from rat epididymal adipose tissue, cannot be substituted for the sonicated fatty layer in stimulation of lipolysis by adrenaline. On the other hand, the stimulation of lipolysis by this hormone is demonstrated even when pancreatic lipase [EC 3.1.1.3] or microbial lipase is used instead of the adipose tissue lipase. The treatment of the sonicated fatty layer with phospholipase C or D [EC 3.1.4.3 or 3.1.4.4] causes a reduction in the adrenaline effect. All these results suggest that for its effect adrenaline may require some specific characters in the substrate.
