Abstract
There are about 50,000 patients in the USA with sarcoidosis, but few of them have asthma. Bronchospasm may be present and is discussed at each of the 4 stages of sarcoidosis: onset, late stage of pulmonary fibrosis, complicating pulmonary infection and laryngeal sarcoidosis. The modes of presentation by the physician, neurologist and chest physician are described. The features of patients in New York (USA), London (England) and Paris (France) are described. The percentages in these 3 areas and in Los Angeles (USA) and Tokyo (Japan) are listed. Laryngeal sarcoidosis and Wegener''s granulomatosis are compared. The differences between the multisystem disorder, sarcoidosis, and a nonspecific local sarcoid tissue reaction are discussed. Extrinsic allergic alveolitis is discussed. Sarcoidosis and Hodgkin''s disease are compared; there are many similarities. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
