Abstract
A survey was undertaken to determine the incidence of Salmonella in retail purchases of beef, ground beef, and chicken fryers. Salmonella were isolated from 3 of 36 (8.3%) fresh whole chicken fryers. No Salmonella were detected in 129 quarters of carcass beef or in 100 samples of ground beef. The failure to detect Salmonella in beef products is discussed. Keywords
