Structure of the Electromagnetic Field in a Spatially Dispersive Medium

Abstract
The exact mode expansion is derived for the electromagnetic field in a spatially dispersive model dielectric occupying the volume . The dispersion relations for the transverse as well as the longitudinal waves are deduced and the nature of the modes is briefly discussed.
