Microscopie photonique des nodules racinaires axéniques d'Alnus crispa var. mollis

Abstract
With the object of knowing the endophyte morphology, axenic root nodules of Alnus crispa var. mollis Fern. were studied by light microscopy. The nodule endophyte was present in three forms: the hypha, which was branched or unbranched, measured between 0.3 μ and 1.0 μ; the vesicle (3–5 μ), which was septate, developed at the hyphal tip; and the bacteria-like cells (0.5–1.5 μ), which did not undergo digestion by the host cells. The structure of the axenic nodule was comparable to that of the natural nodule.
