The Reaction of 2-Methylthio-1,3,2-Diazaboracycloalkanes with Anhydrous Ammonia

Abstract
1,3-Dimethyl-2-methylthio-1,3,2-diazaboracyclohexane, CH3S[sbnd]B(-NCH3-CH2-)2CH2, interacts with anhydrous ammonia by simple displacement of the CH3S group to yield the corresponding NH2 derivative, H2N[sbnd]B(-NCH3-CH2-)2CH2. In contrast, the reaction of 1,3-dimethyl-2-methylthio-1,3,2-diazaboracyclopentane with ammonia proceeds with simultaneous condensation and bis(1,3-dimethyl-1,3,2-diazaboracyclopent-2-yl)amine, HN[B(-NCH3-CH2-)2]2, is obtained.
