Unified thermodynamic equation-of-state for porous materials in a wide pressure range

Abstract
Assuming that the specific heat at constant pressure CP, is simply dependent on the pressure or remains constant, a new thermodynamic equation-of-state (EOS), which is suitable for the analysis in the isobaric plane, is derived in this letter. Combining with the Rankine–Hugoniot relations, the new EOS can be used to predict the Hugoniot behavior of materials with different initial porosities over a shock pressures range from a few kbar to a few Mbar. The calculated Hugoniots from this model are in good agreement with the reported experimental results.Keywords
