Abstract
The capacity of a diffuse double layer is calculated to be inversely proportional to the square root of the frequency at frequencies high compared with the reciprocal of the relaxation time of the ionic atmosphere. This dependence is observed experimentally with inert electrodes in very dilute solutions, but at considerably lower frequencies. The observed capacity is probably concerned with phenomena at the immediate vicinity of the electrode rather than the diffuse double layer. Keywords
