THE ORIGIN OF CAPE AND NATAL ALOES

Abstract
The Aloe species which are mentioned in the literature as sources of Gape and Natal Aloes, were investigated. The conclusion is drawn that only A. ferox Mill, (for Gape Aloes) and a chemical strain of A. marlothii Berger (for Natal Aloes) is and was used. Die in der Literatur als Quellen der Cap– und Natal–Aloe erwähnten Aloe–Arten wurden untersucht. Es wird geschlossen, daß zur Gewinnung von Cap–Aloe nur A. ferox, für Natal–Aloe nur Rassen von A. marlothii benutzt wurden und werden.
