Conventional Hadronic Model of the New Particles at 3.1 and 3.7 GeV

Abstract
We suggest that ψ(3.1) and ψ(3.7) are a bound state and resonance, respectively, of the ΩΩ¯+ system, with decay of ψ(3.1) predominantly into three λλ¯ mesons. Conventional hadronic couplings may then be adopted, with the small ψ(3.1) width an automatic consequence of the bound-state nature and the small Q values of these decays. Branching ratios of ψ(3.1) and ψ(3.7) are calculated and crucial tests of the model pointed out.
