Abstract
One subcutaneous injection of monocrotaline in young Sprague-Dawley rats produces interstitial alveolar edema, platelet accumulation, interstitial pneumonitis, foci of pulmonary atelectasis and the development of giant granular pneumocytes. Monocrotaline is a poison which readily injures the cellular components of the alveolar wall. Increased pulmonary capillary endothelium permeability is observed shortly after the alkaloid administration. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
