Abstract
For a quantitative description of the seafloor roughness, a numerical method has been developed to obtain the two‐dimensional power spectrum and the autocorrelation function. The determination of these parameters gives the wavenumber composition and orientation of the random data in space. This method will be useful for quantitative investigation of the character magnitude and distribution of roughness in relation to bottom material and classification of the roughness characteristics of the seafloor in a given area. Keywords
