Abstract
A method of analysing distributed systems with an arbitrary but suitably chosen set of space modes is presented. The method is most useful in situations where the eigenfunctions are not readily available and where the boundary conditions are control variables. The design of a feedback control is discussed along with the considerations of sensitivity and controllability. Keywords
