Abstract
Beyeler and Strässler stated in their paper [Phys. Rev. B 20, 1980 (1979)] that the diffuse scattering of -AgI was dominated by thermal scattering yielding practically no information about the static state of order. However, in our x-ray as well as neutron scattering measurements, the diffuse scattering due to the disordered distribution of cations in -AgI was clearly observed in addition to the thermal scattering. From the analysis of the disorder scattering the availability of the diffuse scattering in studying a short-range order of cations in the -AgI-type structure was confirmed.
