Pensions, Dependency and Divorce

Abstract
This article explores the nature and extent of married women's dependency on their husband's pension and explains the effect of divorce on pension rights. It examines proposals for compensating for loss of pension on divorce and makes suggestions for a scheme suitable to a system which now favours greater individual provision for retirement and a “clean break” on divorce.
