Abstract
Electromyographic records were obtained on the rectus abdominis and external oblique muscles of 10 women during the performance of an exercise series. The exercises found most effective in strengthening abdominal musculature as revealed by the high magnitude of action potential are: V-sit, basket hang, side-lying trunk raise, backward trunk lean, and curl-ups. The exercises least effective in an exercise program are: full-waist circling, vertical reach, controlled leg extension, and hip roll. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
