Abstract
This is a report of an infant with congenital cytomegalovirus infection who presented with fetal ascites and pulmonary hypoplasia. Severe hepatic fibrosis was found at postmortem, suggesting that portal hypertension played a role in the pathogenesis of the ascites. The significance of fetal ascites in intrauterine cytomegalovirus infection is discussed. Keywords
