Abstract
This statement was prepared by the ANA Committee on Education and adopted by the ANA Board of Directors in September. The association's current focus on the education of those who render nursing care was initiated in 1960, when the ANA Committee on Current and Long-Term Goals proposed that baccalaureate education be the basic education for professional nursing practice. That proposal was adopted for study by the association and, in 1964, the ANA House of Delegates voted that the association“ continue to work baccalaureate education as the educational foundation for professional nursing practice.” Members of the ANA Committee on Education, 1965 to 1966, are: Frances Reiter (chairman), K. Virginia Betzold, Jean H. Campbell, Sister Virginia Kingsbury, Helen Nahm, Rozella M. Schlotfeldt, Margaret Shetland, Verle H. Waters, Jo Eleanor Elliott (ex officio), Judith G, Whitaker (ex officio), Ianthe C. Harris (staff). Those who served on this committee from 1963 to 1964 were: Frances Reiter (chairman), K. Virginia Betzold, Sister Charles Marie, Julia Hereford. Emily Holmquist, Eleanor C. Lambertsen, Helen Nahm, Verle H. Waters, Jo Eleanor Elliott, Margaret Dolan (ex officio), Judith G. Whitaker (ex officio), Willetta E. Simonton (staff).
