Abstract
Material was obtained in Ceylon. Prothallia arise aposporously from the surface or edge of a leaf pinnule and they show usually a vascular strand throughout the major part of their length. These prothallia produce antheridia with normal antherozoids but no archegonia. The embryo arises apogamously as a direct vegetative outgrowth from the aposporous prothallium. There is no reduction of chromosomes in the transition from the sporophyte to the gametophyte. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
