Mating Recognition by Schistosoma mansoni In vitro

Abstract
Separated pairs of adult S. mansoni find each other, mate and produce eggs in vitro. The frequency of mating events among worm pairs separated for as long as 72 h was significantly greater when cultured with their original partners than with nonoriginal partners (P < 0.001). The mating frequency also was greater within groups or worms whenever the group contained a male and female that had been partners originally.
