Vegetative development of the gametophyte of Bonnemaisonia hamifera from a filamentous state

Abstract
Gametophytes of Bonnemaisonia hamifera Hariot developed vegetatively from sterile filamentous plants which resembled the tetrasporophyte of this species (i.e. the trailliella phase). Under the culture conditions used, light intensities exceeding 1000 lux prevented formation of gametophytes. Antheridia, identical with those of plants in nature, were produced after 6 months' incubation.
