Abstract
Experiments on the transition of vacuum arcs from the diffuse mode into the constricted mode were carried out using both optoelectronic equipment and streak photography with time resolution in the range of microseconds. The transition occurs in a time range from 50 to 800 μs and appears to be a continuous process. Keywords
