Abstract
The classical dynamics of acetylene, vibrationally excited, reveals the existence of bottlenecks in the isomerization process of acetylene to vinylidene. It is shown that there is a correlation of the rate of exponential divergence and isomerization. Trapped trajectories have smaller rates of exponential separation than those which lead to isomerization. Keywords
