MEASUREMENT OF AVERAGE PARTICLE DIAMETER UNDER HYDRAULIC CONVEYANCE OF SOLIDS

Abstract
Using vertical connected pipes of two different diameters and an electro-magnetic flow meter, an experimental method for measuring the average particle diameter of coarser solids under hydraulic conveying is presented with consideration of the slip velocity. Experimental results show that the particle diameter thus determined is accurate enough for practical purposes except for the case of low liquid velocities.
