Abstract
A study by 2 state and 2 city filtration plant laboratories of the comparative merits of MacConkey''s Broth and Standard Lactose Broth in water examination indicated that the presence of gas in MacConkey''s Broth did not prove generally a satisfactory indication of the presence of colon organisms[long dash]too many false presumptives were encountered. Complete confirmation of such presumptives gave results similar to those from like confirmation of Lactose Broth gas positives, or of Brilliant Green Bile confirmatory gas positives. The use of Lactose Broth with confirmation (gas only) in secondary Brilliant Green Bile 2% proved more satisfactory than the other procedures studied. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
