Abstract
The axial dispersion which occurs when a binary gas mixture flows through a bed of inert, non‐porous particles is well understood when the dispersion is dominated by either molecular diffusion or by turbulent mixing. In this paper consideration is given to the dispersion which occurs in the transition region between these two extremes of molecular diffusion and turbulent mixing. An equation for the prediction of the axial dispersion coefficient is discussed in the light of recent experimental evidence. Keywords
