Eugenol as a Stimulus for Gastric Mucous Secretion

Abstract
Eugenol emulsion (5%) is the most effective known stimulus to mucus secretion. The mucus also tends to have a higher pH than that induced by any other stimuli. Eugenol has practically no stimulating effects on the parietal cells. The substance is a pure compound, being the major component of clove oil.Keywords
