Ten years ago I was a third-year resident in internal medicine trying to decide how best to put my education to use. By then I was married and had two children, and the pull of country life seemed great. I had also participated in a residency program in a community hospital, where I was exposed to the relationship between the physician and the patient in a private practice setting.
