Abstract
The cisternal lymph collected from fasting and resting rats for 24 hrs. was found to have a protein concn. 52% of that of plasma. About 75% of the total circulating plasma proteins pass into the cisternal lymph daily. In rats with severe cirrhosis following repeated admn. of CCl4 the liver capillaries seem much more permeable to protein and the cisternal lymph is greatly augmented by the increased flow of hepatic lymph of increased protein content. In the fasting cirrhotic rat protein equivalent to 7 times the total circulating plasma protein passes into the cisternal lymph daily. Keywords
