Abstract
Determinations of the force of gravity, which were first made, and are still made, for geodetic purposes, are also important data for the science of structural geology. In recognition of this fact, oil‐companies have spent and are spending millions of dollars on their own gravity‐surveys. These surveys conducted with instruments which surpass the pendulum, both in accuracy and in speed of operation, are usually directed toward finding minor geologic structures, such as might contain oil or gas.
