Abstract
Purpura fulminans in association with N. catarrhalis septicemia and meningitis was found in a 6-month-old male infant. The small number of cases in the literature of meningitis due to saprophytic neisseria may understate the incidence of infection with this ordinarily nonpathogenic organism and has served to mask the apparent predilection of N. catarrhalis producing meningitis and septicemia for the young child. The association of purpura fulminans with N. catarrhalis septicemia merely serves to emphasize that this life-threatening complication may accompany almost any infectious disease of childhood. Keywords
