Abstract
Two cytopathogenic virus strains were isolated in calf kidney tissue cultures from calves with a respiratory syndrome. Erythrocytes of the guinea pig were hemadsorbed, whereas hemagglutination occurred with erythrocytes of the guinea pig, calf, chicken and sheep. The isolates were shown to be identical with the American SF 4 strain of parainfluenza-3-virus by means of cross-neutralization, HI-and Complement Fixation tests. Serological screening of cattle sera of the stable from which the virus strains were isolated and of cattle belonging to other herds emphasizes that parainfluenza-3-virus is oc.curing frequently in the bovine species in Switzerland. Keywords
