Abstract
Wool is often exposed during processing to solutions which contain weak acids. Certain of these acids have long been known to have profound effects on the swelling and the elastic properties of wool fibers. Nevertheless, practically all of the studies which have been made on the chemistry of the reaction of wool with acids have been made with strong acids, i.e., those which are totally dis sociated into their constituent ions. The present paper (Combination of Wool Protein with Weak Acids), by re search associates of the Textile Foundation at the Na tional Bureau of Standards, fills in part this gap in our knowledge. Keywords
