Abstract
Plasma Al levels of 17 patients with gastric and/or duodenal ulcers who had received 4 g of sucralfate daily for 8-10 wk were compared with those of 6 control subjects. Al levels were determined by flameless atomic absorption spectrometry. Plasma of patients on long term sucralfate therapy contained 8.41 .+-. 6.00 (SD) .mu.g Al/l and was not significantly different from that of the control subjects which contained 6.50 .+-. 7.87 .mu.g/l. These values agreed well with normal values reported previously. Long term ingestion of sucralfate in therapeutic doses does not result in an increase in plasma Al concentration. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
