Abstract
The propagation of ion‐acoustic waves in high frequency fields is experimentally studied. The resulting phase‐velocity decrease and enhanced damping are observed for radio‐frequency field amplitudes up to αe≃0.5, where αe=eE/(meωovc) is the normalized amplitude. Good agreement with the theory is found. Keywords
