Abstract
Organic acids are rendered more water soluble and less volatile by conversion to K hydroxamates. Most of the common organic acids with chain lengths up to about 8 C atoms may then be separated on paper chromatograms and located by spraying with ferric chloride. RF values in various solvents for a number of acids are given.Keywords
