Abstract
The results of a theoretical study of the application of mapping and spectral techniques to the design of digital circuits, with special emphasis on combinational circuits, are given. The method has the great advantage that the derivation of circuit tests is an integral part of the circuit synthesis procedure. Other advantages of the method are that very elegant designs are produced which are compatible with all modern fabrication technologies and permit low-cost implementation. This technique is fundamentally different to conventional methods of deriving easily tested circuits.
