Abstract
Two chelating resins, a poly(dithiocarbamate)(PDTC) and a carboxymethylated poly(ethylenimine)-poly(methylenepolyphenylene) isocyanate (CPPI), have been evaluated for on-line chelation by flow injection with inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometric detection. Twenty-two elements have been examined and a simple, rapid, on-line technique for the quantitative evaluation of the resin is proposed. The effect of pH of a buffered solution on the element recovery and parameters such as column length and diameter, affecting the dispersion of the analyte zone resulting from the introduction of an on-line column were studied. The PDTC resin breakthrough capacity was evaluated as a function of the sample flow-rate and concentration. Copper and Zn were determined in sample waters after pre-concentration.Keywords
