Abstract
Conceptions for digital colour TV receivers open the way to substantially improved TV pictures. Utilizing field or frame store units, it will be possible to realize three-dimensional filters, which exploit special properties of PAL-or NTSC-signals for an efficient reduction of present disturbances [1]. These impairments, mainly caused by-cross effects between luminance and chrominance information-noise of various sources, and-flicker effects, can be completely eliminated for lots of picture contents. However, with special scene detail, this elimination is not sufficient, moreover, three-dimensional filtering will evoke additional disturbing effects, for an example blurring of edges. Therefore, an adaptively controlled use of these complex filters is necessary to avoid additional degradation and to achieve overall good performance. Keywords
