Abstract
7330 Optimizing the shape of pin-jointed structures When designing pin-jointed structure, the engineer should a shape which provides a use an economicalsolution.Theoreticalworkhasshown that the commonly used geometries are not very efficient. To obtain more economical structures it is necessary to include shape as design variable. However, the calculation required for this a is prohibitive unless special mathematical techniques are employed. Paper The shows that the method of dynamic programming can be used to include shape as a design variable without too much calculation. The shapes which are obtained using this processare unlike conventional shapes have a weight advantage of up to 20% and over them...Keywords
