Abstract
A model of myocardial ischemia is described and is characterized in terms of functional, ultrastructural, electrophysiological and metabolic changes. The model fulfills a number of criteria considered to be of importance in any model of myocardial ischemia, i.e., the myocardium is ischemic as opposed to hypoxic, the coronary flow is reduced but not totally abolished and the flow reaching the ischemic myocardium is fully oxygenated and contains a mixture of substrates. This model is evidently of value for the investigation and assessment of pharmacological interventions during myocardial infarction. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
