The production of free sulphur from l-cystine by a soil bacterium

Abstract
A new soil organism, Achromo-bacter cystinovorum (p.600), is descr., isolated from soil near Nottingham, England, which is capable of decomposing 1-cystine in the absence of other sources of either C, N or S. The products obtained are free S, ammonia and CO2.
