Abstract
Most of the carbonic anhydrase (CA) activity was released into the growth medium, when a cell wall-deficient mutant strain of C. reinhardtii was cultured under low CO2 conditions. Treatment of wild-type cells carrying high CA activity with a gametic wall-lysing enzyme resulted in the release of the CA activity into the medium. Both data indicate that the majority of CA activity in C. reinhardtii is located outside the plasmalemma, either in the periplasmic space or attached to the cell wall. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
