Abstract
The phase shift method is used to evaluate the plane wave scattering by an imperfectly conducting cylinder coated with a radially inhomogeneous dielectric. The differential equations for the phase function are solved numerically and using the Leontovich boundary condition to obtain the initial value. Various radial inhomogeneities are investigated and the results for the scattering cross section indicate significant deviations from the uncoated cylinder. Keywords
