Gain measurements of InGaAsP 1.5 μm optical amplifiers

Abstract

We describe the first high-resolution measurements of optical amplifier gain spectra. We demonstrate 1.5 μm, near-travelling-wave amplifiers with relatively smooth gain spectra and high output powers, and compare them with Fabry-Perot amplifiers.
