The Specific Absorbability of Protective Antibodies Against Cysticercus Crassicollis in Rats and C. Pisiformis in Rabbits from Infected and Artificially Immunized Animals

Abstract
Summary: Immunological studies with Cysticercus crassicollis in rats and with C. pisiformis in rabbits have demonstrated that several weeks after infection, the serum of these animals contains a protective substance which is not absorbed in vitro by specific whole parasite material. Since the protective antibodies induced by the parenteral injection of whole worm material and those present two weeks after infection are absorbable, the inference is that the unabsorbable antibodies in the serum of infected animals are engendered by antigenic materials elaborated by the developing parasite.
