Artificial Diet and Rearing Procedures for the Omnivorous Looper1

Abstract
An artificial diet and rearing procedures are described for Sabulodes aegrotata Guenée. The normal developmental period for larvae reared from egg to pupa on the described diet was 38 to 41 days. The mean adult female life span was 15.5 days, and average fecundity was 233 eggs. A colony of S. aegrotata has been maintained for over 2 years and has completed more than ten successive generations with the described diet and rearing procedures.
