Discriminant Analysis of Two Cyprinid Fishes Phoxinus eos and Phoxinus erythrogaster (Pisces: Cyprinidae)

Abstract
Discriminant analysis was applied to morphological data from 2 very similar minnows, P. eos and P. erythrogaster. Variables which were not significantly different between species in univariate t-tests provided good discrimination when their covariance was considered. Specimens with intermediate scores tended to be small and from allopatric localities where hybridization is extremely unlikely.
