Abstract
BASED ON the intermediate-filament immunohistochemical analysis of surgical primary, and recurrent pterygia specimens, we discovered that the pathogenesis of pterygia was a result of an invasion of the cornea by vimentin-expressing altered limbal epithelial basal cells, the pterygium cells, followed by conjunctival epithelium.1,2Keywords
