Transition Probabilities for Low-Lying States inSc46

Abstract
Lifetimes of the low-lying levels of Sc46 have been studied using the Sc45(d, pγ)Sc46 reaction. The half-life of the 52-keV level was measured to be t12=8.8±0.4 μsec, which implies a B(E2)=3.1×1051e2 cm4 for an E2 transition to the ground state. A comparison of this result with shell-model calculations implies effective charges for the unpaired nucleons of (ep+en)=5.43e. Half-life limits from M1 hindrances were observed.
